Care and Cleaning makes all the difference in the world!
Our custom made items are very sturdy and with proper care will last a very long time. Please read these helpful hints.
Care & Cleaning
Leather · Leather should be deep cleaned at least twice a year. Remove dirt and horse sweat using a soft bristle brush or damp cloth. Use a low Ph "non-darkening" leather cleaner (saddle soap) to ensure your leather does not change color after it dries (unless that is what you are wanting). Apply a leather conditioner as directed to the base leather layer, avoid saturating the overlay hides. Frequent conditioning will keep leather strong and pliable. Just do not under or over oil your leather.
Crystals · Brush off loose dirt using a soft toothbrush, then wipe clean with a damp cloth. Do not use a detergent, the acidity may corrode the metals and damage the settings that hold the crystals onto the leather. Windex works great on your hardware with crystals to keep them sparkling. Keep in mind that crystals are made of glass, so they can break if banged to hard.
Simple precaution
· Though I add a thread locker to the screws they still may loosen over time, so you will need to check to ensure screws are not loosening.
· Do not leave a horse unattended with your custom tack as horses tend to rub themselves on things and this can damage the tack and also the item your horse used as a scratching post.
· Your tack should be stored in a dry location out of direct sunlight. Do not store your tack in extreme hot or cold temperatures as this can expand or contract the adhesive causing the foil backing on the crystals to separate from the crystal itself.
